Global Lighting Trends You Can’t Afford To Miss

Lighting Trend
Hong Kong is embracing green lighting as part of a broader push toward sustainable urban development, with smart technologies and energy-efficient designs leading the way.
In recent years, green lighting has become one of the key focuses in Hong Kong’s building and infrastructure strategies, driven by both environmental goals and technological innovation. The Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) has published best practice guidelines that promote the integration of smart lighting systems into green building design. These systems often include LED fixtures, motion sensors, daylight harvesting, and adaptive controls, which help reduce energy consumption while enhancing occupant comfort.
Hong Kong’s commitment to green lighting is also reflected in its urban planning. Reports from InvestHK highlight the city’s ambition to become a hub for smart green buildings, where lighting plays a crucial role in reducing carbon footprints and improving environmental performance. With government incentives, rising public awareness, and growing demand for sustainable solutions, green lighting products are poised to become a standard feature in both residential and commercial developments across the city.
Projects
Zodiac Lighting is one of a key player in Hong Kong’s green lighting movement, promoting energy-efficient solutions through partnerships with brands like Clear Lighting, Deltalight, Flexxica, Orluna and our Milux. Our effort includes securing Platinum-level CIC Green Product Certifications and collaborating with the Hong Kong Green Building Council to advance sustainable lighting in major projects, supporting the city’s eco-friendly future.

In some of our latest projects, we have incorporated green products including:

One Innovale – Clear Lighting
Created along the concept of “Healthy Lifestyle”, One Innovale integrates master planning, space deposition, sustainable landscape and innovative clubhouse, all set to redefine an ideal lifestyle with technology and cutting-edge smart living system.
All landscape Neon-Flex for this landmark project was by Clear Lighting, an established premium Chinese lighting manufacturer specialised in outdoor LED stripes and neon flexes. The innovation and quality of their F15, F22 and F23 series along with their other products have earned praises of designers and architects alike from across the globe.
Clear Lighting neon Flex stands out for its energy efficiency, consuming significantly less power than traditional neon or incandescent lighting. Its durable silicone housing ensures long lifespan and weather resistance, reducing the need for frequent replacements and minimising waste. As part of Clear Lighting’s commitment to eco-friendly design, Leon Flex is manufactured using low-impact materials and supports modular installation, which simplifies maintenance and upgrades.

Kimpton Hotel – Deltalight
The Kimpton Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, is built on the historic site of the Mariners’ Club, a former refuge for seafarers. Redeveloped by Empire Group, the project preserves the Mariners’ Club’s legacy by incorporating its facilities into the lower floors of a new 50-storey tower, while introducing the Kimpton brand on the upper levels. This fusion of heritage and hospitality marks Kimpton’s debut in Hong Kong, offering upscale accommodations alongside a meaningful nod to the city’s maritime past.
The Partou by Deltalight is chosen by SW Design for their functional minimalism. Deltalight’s Partou is a versatile architectural luminaire known for its compact design, flexible installation options, which are ideal for the day-to-day operations of a hotel.
Partou features elegant architectural luminaires available in finishes like black, flemish bronze, and gold, designed for both residential and commercial interiors. What makes Partou unique is Deltalight’s integration of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) benchmarks, which evaluate the environmental impact of each luminaire from production to disposal. As a member of the Green Light Alliance, Deltalight actively promotes circular design, using recyclable materials and modular components that extend product lifespan. The company’s sustainability roadmap also emphasises local sourcing, energy-efficient LED technology, and reduced packaging waste, ensuring that collections like Partou contribute to a lower carbon footprint while maintaining high design standards.

One Causeway Bay – Milux
One Causeway Bay is situated in the site of former Excelsior Hotel in Hong Kong, historically known as East Point. It was acquired by James Matheson for Hong Kong’s first godowns even before the territory became a British colony in 1841 and so enjoys legendary status as Hong Kong Lot No 1.
Designed by world renowned architects Kohn Petersen Fox and Ronald Lu & Partners, One Causeway Bay integrates a variety of the state-of-the-art green and smart features that are aimed at enhancing tenant wellness, operational efficiency and minimising environmental impact. These features include an energy-saving LED lighting system in the building, and an air purification system that maintains high air quality.
Milux’s DIP Troffer used in this project has successfully attained the highest platinum recognition in CIC Green Product Certification. Designed with tunable white options (3000K, 3500K, 4000K) and high CRI ratings, Milux DIP offers both performance and energy efficiency. Its modular design allows for customisable diffusers and finishes—such as anti-glare film, line patterns, and metal mesh—enhancing visual comfort while minimising energy use. What makes DIP a green lighting product is its commitment to low power consumption, long lifespan, and eco-conscious materials, all aligned with Hong Kong’s green building standards.
