Milan Design Week 2024 Recap

Milan Design Week 2024 Recap

Milan Design Week (April 16 to 21) stands out on the cultural calendar for its unparalleled global impact. At the primary fair, Salone del Mobile, leading global brands present their newest collections, serving as a pivotal platform for observing trends and innovations. However as the festival grows bigger every year, more and more prominents brands are choosing to exhibit within the city.

For the week, Milan simply buzzed with design activity—the vibrant districts of Brera, Tortona and beyond hosting pop-up installations and exhibits, talks and discussions, and with parties flowing into the night. Brands put out their very best show, but mainly Milan Design Week is about the sharing of ideas, and speculating how design can help better shape our lives.

Here are the highlights:

Axolight

Discover the subtle harmony of form and function with Paralela by Studio Nahtrang. Where modular lighting seamlessly integrates into architecture, elevating interior design to new heights of timeless beauty.

Bocci

“Unexpected Guests”, an installation by @valentinacameranesi for @miartmilano and Milan Design Week, is now on display at Bocci’s Milan Apartment Showroom along with custom configurations of Bocci’s iconic collections.

Deltalight

Deltalight is proud to launch the new 𝗡𝗲𝗯𝗯𝗶𝗮 collection in collaboration with Park Associati. From the functionalist architecture of the garage in the Darsena district, which hosted Design Variations, to the neoclassical elegance of the Galleria d’Arte Moderna, illuminated by Deltalight, every moment was a celebration of heritage, design and forward-thinking.

Flos

Flos at Palazzo Visconti was a celebration of design’s elective affinities and a return to the iconic 18th-century palazzo with an immersive architectural experience showcasing Flos’s role as a design playground.
The exhibition presented three new glass products – IC10, Bellhop Glass and Superwire – in a mirrored installation that evoked the illusionary essence of the Baroque setting.

Lasvit

The centerpiece of Lasvit’s Re/Creation, situated at the beautiful Palazzo Isimbardi, an installation called “Porta” by the brand’s Art Director Maxim Velčovský is showcasing the never-ending pushing of the limits of architectural glass design and craftsmanship.
The exhibition also presented a new lighting design concept, Bois de Cristal, by Maria Čulenová, a new collection entitled Nebula by Claesson Koivisto Rune, and a limited edition of Neverending Glory by Jan Plecháč and Henry Wielgus.

Lodes

In the evocative setting of the showroom located in via della Moscova 33, visitors discovered Lodes’ four new product launches alongside existing ranges including Cono di Luce and Random Cloud.
Oblò, a brand new pendant light designed in collaboration with Italian Architect, Paola Navone – OTTO Studio, was the focus of a special, nautical-inspired installation. As described by Navone, “the Oblò lamps float in the air like numerous luminous buoys, while red-painted metal tubes create shapes reminiscent of beach cabins with endless combinations of red and white stripes. The fun is discovering what happens through the large portholes in the windows, as if we were looking at the beach from a boat in the middle of the sea.”

Vibia

“Shaping Atmospheres” showcased Vibia’s latest indoor and outdoor collections installed throughout Lom Dopolavoro’s expansive interior and grounds, which merge traditional materials, such as wood and brick, with new technologies. Designed to evoke different emotions, the focus of each space was on the creation of beautiful, enveloping atmospheres that enhance human wellbeing.
